Introduction to Outgoing Email Settings

In order to send outgoing email from software on a computer or a mobile device, you must normally specify the Outgoing Email Server setting (otherwise known as SMTP Server). If you have a desktop computer that remains in the same office then normally your Internet Service Provider (ISPs) mail server is the best option for sending outgoing email. If you have a mobile phone that you wish to use to send email, then normally you will use your mobile carriers outgoing email server.

In some cases however, it may not be appropriate for you to use your ISPs email server for outgoing mail. For example, if you have a laptop or a mobile computer and wish to roam between networks, use wireless hotspots or travel interstate and overseas then you will not be able to use your ISP's mail server all of the time. In this case you can apply to have your Webvault email account enabled for authenticated outgoing email services. With the correct settings, you will then be able to roam freely between internet networks and still send email from your computer. If you have an existing hosting facility or Webvault email account, please contact our customer support team to apply for an SMTP enabled service.

For your convenience, here is a list of outgoing email server settings for common internet service and telecommunications providers.

NOTE: This information only applies to POP3 and IMAP enabled email accounts. Microsoft Exchange services are not affected by Outgoing SMTP Server settings.

NOTE: These settings were correct at the time of publication, however may be subject to change. If your ISP is not listed, please contact them directly for the correct outgoing email server (SMTP) setting.

IMPORTANT: Webvault does NOT guarantee the reliability of your chosen internet service providers (ISP) email server for sending email.

Outgoing Email Setting for Webvault SMTP Enabled Email Accounts

If you have already applied for an SMTP enabled email account with Webvault, you can use the following settings to send email from your computer software or mobile device.

Incoming Email Server: email.webvault.com.au (Or mail.yourdomain.com.au)
Outgoing Email Server (SMTP): email.webvault.com.au (Or mail.yourdomain.com.au)

  • In your software you MUST also enable Outgoing Email SMTP Server Authentication. Sometimes this option is under a More Settings or an Advanced Settings section in your email software.
  • Webvault also recommends that you change the Outgoing Email Server SMTP Connection Port from the standard 25 to port 366.

NOTE: Most internet access providers will block connections to remote mail servers on the default port 25 for security reasons. In order to bypass these firewall restrictions you should change the SMTP port setting to 366 appropriately. If you are unable to connect to our SMTP email server on either port 25 or port 366 you should contact your internet access provider or IT support specialist and ask about the firewall constraints upon your internet connection.
